Gruppo Espresso Takes Over 51% of MYmovies.it

Milan, February 11, 2013 – Through Elemedia, from Ibs.it of Messaggerie Italiane, Gruppo Espresso has taken over 51% of Mo-Net S.r.l, proprietor of MYmovies.it, Italy’s top website in the vertical market of film and cinema

The Guzzo brothers remain shareholders with 34% (Gianluca Guzzo is the founder and CEO of Mo-Net S.r.l) as does Ibs.it, with 15%, which will continue to be a commercial partner of MYmovies.it. Launched in 2000, www.mymovies.it has since established itself as the benchmark website for the digital publication of film and cinema content, a sector in which it is now the unchallenged leader from every point of view:
–          Traffic: over 3 million monthly unique users (source: AWDB); 200,000 daily unique users (source: AWDB) with 100,000 streamed videos per day

–          Community: over 200,000 users’ reviews and comments, 750,000 registered users, and about 15,000 new requests per month for alerts and the newslette

–          Content: database with every film from 1895 to the present day, over 1 million pages on films/directors/actors available online for free viewing, and complete coverage of cinema screenings (3,500 cinemas updated in real time
In 2010 MYmovies.it launched MYMOVIESLIVE!, the streaming platform that allows subscribers to watch films before or while they are showing at cinemas, and to see live operas and ballets, as well as to exchange ideas and opinions with other viewers in real time, during screenings.
December 2012 saw the launch of the beta version of MYmovieswide!, the streaming platform that lets users access a vast library of films on demand. This acquisition further strengthens the position of Gruppo Espresso in the world of digital entertainment, expanding its potential in the display-advertising segment with a profiled vertical audience. It is now in an interesting position to exploit future opportunities for synergy between MYmovies.it and the other digital properties in the Espresso group, and in particular with Repubblica.it – the top Italian-language information site – and Tvzap. As a result of this agreement, Manzoni will not only be managing the national and local advertising sales for MyMovies, but will also acquire the advertising concession of Ibs.it, Libraccio.it and Wuz.it (Gruppo Messaggerie Italiane).
